Our ExpertisePSM provides a variety of engineering services to school districts and college and university campuses, including new design, value engineering, remodeling, and seismic analysis and retrofit. Educational facilities have historically represented a large part of our reputation for quality structural engineering design. We have long-standing relationships with many school districts, including Seattle, Highline, Issaquah, Shoreline, North Thurston, Northshore, and Central Kitsap. We have worked extensively with the University of Washington, Highline College, Green River College, and Renton Technical College.
Virtually all of our school and college modernization projects involve seismic mitigation. Our company ranks as one of the top firms in the region in seismic rehabilitation of existing structures. Our professional involvement in seismic rehabilitation issues affirms our leadership in this area.

This project includes framing for new lead shielding as well as high-density CMU walls.
Western Washington University-College Hall Elevator Installation
Structural Engineering support for the installation of an elevator in this historic building. Limited clearances challenged the design team.
HIGHLINE COLLEGE – EARLY CHILDHOOD LEARNING CENTER

This state of the art facility has separate buildings for different age levels clustered around a central courtyard. The wooded setting was a challenge to the design team.
HIGHLINE COLLEGE PIER REHABILITATION and NEW CLASSROOM

PSM originally repaired earthquake damage to this valuable pier on Puget Sound, near Seattle. We then designed new facilities supported by the pier, which is used by a local college.
UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON – MILLER HALL TENANT IMPROVEMENT

Extensive remodeling and tenant improvement for this office space. New mechanical platforms, wall openings, and mitigation of seismic hazards were included in this project.
